ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 148-90/80 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 36 mm, 16.72 g, 11 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing tainia and wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. HΡAKΛEOΥΣ - ΣΩTHΡOΣ / ΘAΣIΩN Herakles standing front, head to left, holding club in his right hand and with lion's skin draped over his left arm; in inner left field, monogram. HGC 6, 359. SNG Ashmolean 3690. Light marks and a few small scratches and with very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.

From a German collection, privately acquired from Dr. Michael Brandt in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
